The social economic enterprise Siu-Tsiu has appointed Marianne Schmidt Lund as its new Chief Executive Officer. She joins the organization from her position as Head of Department at Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and brings many years of experience working with children and young people in both Greenland and Denmark.
The foundation Den Selvejende Institution Siu-Tsiu has appointed Marianne Schmidt Lund as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2026. She takes over the leadership of an organization that helps young people progress towards employment and education through social economic enterprise work communities in Tasiilaq and Qaqortoq.
Marianne Schmidt Lund joins Siu-Tsiu from her position as Head of Department for Early Childhood Education Services and the Department for Support Persons for Children and Young People at Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. She has previously worked as an independent consultant and has experience from MISI-Avannaa (PPR North) as well as the Children and Schools Administration at Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION
Marianne Schmidt Lund holds a Master of Arts (Education) in Philosophy of Education from Aarhus University, awarded in 2017. She has a professional background as a pedagogue and also completed her foundational studies at the Aarhus School of Architecture. She is currently completing a supervisor training programme at Peqqissaanermik Ilinniarfik, as well as the Ledelse² executive leadership programme with Re:Lead in Nuuk. In addition, Marianne serves as an appointed external examiner at the Social Pedagogical Seminary in Ilulissat.
During her career as a pedagogue, she was involved in establishing two early childhood education centres in Denmark. She relocated to Greenland in January 2024 and has since been studying Greenlandic.
“I’m not yet fluent in Greenlandic, but I am getting better and better at understanding what is being said. I watch Greenlandic news every day and spend time each weekend writing down what is being said and then translating it into Danish. In addition, I meet every week with a group in Nuuk where we drink tea and speak Greenlandic, as best we can.”
